Who we are

Overseas Verify is run by Launchese Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Launchese has spent years helping people around the world start and run UK companies. Identity verification is the newest part of that work, and it exists because our own customers kept asking for it.

We are a small team. When you contact us, a person reads your message and a person reviews your case.

What we are registered to do

Four registrations matter for this service, and you can check three of them yourself right now:

• Companies House: company no. 11878200. Look us up.
• HMRC: supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes under XQML00000211193, listed on the supervised business register.
• ICO: registered as a data controller, ZB591960. Check the entry.
• Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP): our agent number is AP020671. This is the registration that lets us verify your identity and file it with Companies House on your behalf. What an ACSP is.

Being an ACSP is not a badge we gave ourselves. It means Companies House has accepted us as an authorised agent, and that we are supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes. When your verification is filed, your public record shows that an ACSP verified you to the Companies House standard.

Why this service exists

Since the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, every UK director and person with significant control has to verify their identity. There is a free government route, and if it works for you, you should use it. We say so on our own homepage.

It does not work for everyone. The free route leans on documents and checks that are straightforward inside the UK and awkward outside it. People who live abroad, hold a passport without a chip, or have no UK history to draw on are the ones who come to us. Verifying those people properly, rather than turning them away, is the whole point of this service.

How we handle what you send us

The photographs of your document and your face are captured by our specialist verification partner and never reach our servers. We hold the result of the check and the text details we are required to keep. Card payments are handled by Stripe and we never see your card number.

Anti-money-laundering law requires us to keep verification records for seven years, which means we cannot delete them on request within that period. Our privacy policy sets out all of this in full, including who else sees your data and what rights you have.
